Dear Members and Colleagues,,
It is a great honor to welcome you to the Korean Gerontological Nursing Society (KGNS), a distinguished organization I am privileged to lead.
Since its establishment in 1998, the KGNS has been a pioneer in advancing research, education, and practice in gerontological nursing, contributing to a robust academic foundation and practical applications in the field. The 14th executive board of the KGNS is committed to our vision of establishing a sustainable care system as well as academic and practical standards for gerontological nursing to ensure a healthy aging experience for all.
To achieve this vision, we will focus on the following key initiatives:
First, we will enhance the Journal of Korean Gerontological Nursing (JKGN) into a journal with international impact. Building on its recognition as an indexed journal in CINAHL in 2016 and Scopus in 2020, we aim to further elevate its quality and influence by securing indexing in PubMed Central, Medline, and the Science Citation Index (SCI). This will transform the journal into a global platform for sharing and collaborating on gerontological nursing research among domestic and international researchers.
Second, we will promote various academic activities to advance gerontological nursing. These include organizing academic conferences, providing research grants, awarding outstanding research papers, and publishing books and guidelines related to gerontological nursing. Through these efforts, the KGNS will create opportunities for collaboration among domestic and international experts, share the latest research and practical trends, and foster dialogue with various academic disciplines and related organizations.
Third, we will develop and operate clinical training and education programs for nurses working in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community settings.
These programs will help nurses acquire and apply the latest knowledge and skills, enabling them to demonstrate their expertise in gerontological nursing. Furthermore, we will support nurses in developing the capacity to contribute to policy-making initiatives related to gerontological care.
The KGNS will continue to bridge research and practice, striving to achieve both academic excellence and societal impact in gerontological nursing. We warmly encourage your steadfast support and active contribution as we progress together on this journey.
